Getting started with the PhysiCell model

To start working with a model, you first need to open it. To do this, double-click on icon_Type_Diagram or right-click on icon_Type_Diagram and in the drop-down list, click LMB on icon_opened_folder Open.

After this, a window will appear in the upper left part of the screen in which you can create a model.

At the top of this window you can see a toolbar that is used to build a PhysiCell model.

Transformation

The main participants of the PhysiCell model are cells of various types (icon_cell_definition) and substrates (icon_substrate).

There are 4 types of interactions possible between them:

  • Secretion/Consumption (icon_secretion): secretion/consumption of a particular substrate by a cell.

  • Chemotaxis (icon_chemotaxis): movement of a cell towards or away from a specific substrate.

  • Interaction (icon_interaction): the effect of cells of one type on cells of another type,

  • Transformation (icon_transformation): transformation of cells of one type into cells of another type.
