Initial distribution of cell characteristics (Initial distribution)

After clicking on the Initial distribution tab in the properties panel on the right, you will have a menu where you can edit the initial distribution of various characteristics of cells of the selected type in the model.

To add a distribution of one characteristic, you need:

  1. Click LMB on the line with the tab icon_option Distributions.

  2. Click LMB on the icon_add_new icon.

After adding a distribution, you will have a tab with its serial number (starting from [0]). By opening this tab, you can see the parameters available for editing:

  • Model parameter: characteristic of cells of the selected type, the initial distribution of which we want to set.

  • Distribution: distribution form.

  • Min: minimum possible value of the characteristic.

  • Max: maximum possible value of the characteristic.

To select the value of the Model parameter and Distribution parameters, you need to click LMB to the right of the corresponding icon and select the desired value from the drop-down list.

The following distribution forms are available for each parameter:

Distributions


  • Uniform: uniform distribution.

  • LogUniform: log-uniform distribution.

  • Normal: normal (Gaussian) distribution.

  • LogNormal: log-normal distribution.

  • Log10Normal: log10 normal distribution.

To select the value of the Min and Max parameters, you need to click LMB to the right of the corresponding icon and enter your own value.

Important

This tab specifies the initial distribution of a particular characteristic for the entire population of cells of the selected type.

For example, if you specify a uniform distribution for speed, then at the beginning of the model simulation, all cells of the selected type will have the same speed. If a different distribution is specified, then one part of the cells of the selected type will have one speed value, another part of the cells of the same type will have a different speed value within the given distribution.
