Mechanical properties of the cell (Mechanics)

After clicking on the Mechanics tab in the properties panel on the right, you will have a menu that displays the mechanical properties of the cell.

Mechanics_menu

  • Cell adhesion strength: intercellular adhesion strength,

  • Cell repulsion strength: intercellular repulsion strength,

  • Membrane adhesion strength: cell adhesion strength to the basement membrane*,

  • Membrane repulsion strength: the strength of repulsion of a cell from the basement membrane,

  • Relative max adhesion distance: relative maximum distance**, upon reaching which cell adhesion occurs,

  • Max attachments: the maximum number of cells that a cell of the selected type can have contact with at the same time,

  • Attachment elasticity: cell attachment elasticity coefficient,

  • Attachment rate: speed of cell attachment,

  • Detachment rate: cell detachment rate.

Note

*The basement membrane is not explicitly shown in the model. It is assumed that all cells and substrates of the model are located on it.

**Relative to the radius of the cell. For example, the value “1” means a distance equal to the radius of this cell - if the distance between cells of the selected type is less than or equal to their radius, then such cells stick together.

You can change the value of each parameter by clicking LMB on the value to the right of the corresponding parameter and entering your own value.
